This film about the collapse of the USSR was produced for the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK)

2011 was marked by a number of celebrations connected to the memorable historic events of 1991: the Referendum ‘On the future of the renewed Soviet Union’; pricing reform; the termination of the Warsaw Treaty Organization; the election of Boris Yeltsin as the President of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic; the State Committee on the State of Emergency and the coup d’état that took place between 19-21 August; the Belovezhskie Accords, the approval of the new national flag, and the emergence of Russia as a state.

Prominent figures from the new Russia and the world participated in the filming of this series.
